Day-92

I have much to report of the last few days…I have been adventuring it up all over the place!  Friday we went to a restaurant in downtown called Yxta for which we had a blackboard eats special .  It had good reviews and a good menu, so we were excited to try it.  Well…we get there, they couldn’t find our reservation despite the confirming email.  They seemed very overwhelmed, the restaurant was full but not ridiculously.   It was one disaster after another, we couldn’t get water to our table for 20 minutes because apparently they were out of glasses and were waiting to have more washed…I mean really?  And to top it off the food was mediocre and forgettable.  The drinks were the best part.

Saturday night we tried a great place called Vintage Enotica.  I had read that they had a special running that weekend, three courses of flatbread pizzas with three wine pairings for $25.  It was great. The service was awesome…thanks Sam!  The food was good, the wine was great…overall a nice experience that we would like to go back to.

Sunday was Superbowl…enough said.

That brings us to Monday.  I did something I can cross of the list and don’t think I want to do again or at least for a long time.  Went to a taping of Price is Right.  Oh boy, the quality of the people…if you were there…I’m sorry but wow!  Might have been worth it if we were asked to come on down but not so much. I can say that Drew Carey is great. He is funny and personable and so nice!  Once you get in to the taping it is fun but the process and the waiting and the people prior to that seemed daunting and unnecessary.  But I did it…so check!

Unfortunately today was spent just on day job stuff and it was a doozy…i did get a bit of a workout in…because OMG Costa Rica in less than 2 weeks!!!

I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til tomorrow

Day 91- Adding Adventure

Today was full of unwanted adventures…couldn’t even find parking at the park! But nothing too disastrous and no one was hurt.
Have been keeping it low key this week trying to save money. Have some cool outings planned for the weekend(ok really just dinners)! And of course Super Bowl Sunday!! Whohoo
Next week is looking quite adventurous, at least the beginning. I won’t say why until I report after the events…oh the suspense.
I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til tomorrow. Or the next day. 🙂

Day 90-Adding Adventure

Wow, so it has been three months since I started writing about adding adventure into my life. And in 20 days I will be going to Costa Rica…wow!  Not bad if I do say so myself.

It is amazing how small little changes and/or slight deviations from your norm can be so impactful and “adventurous.”  I have tried new foods, been to the theater, planned adventure trips that even involve hiking…yikes!  And I am better for it all.  Not to say that I have even scratched the surface, but three months is a milestone.

I have been applying for some side jobs to fund these adventures, because they certainly are not cheap.  Even though they are all good deals, they still cost money.  It seems silly that nobody wants to hire a lawyer to do small jobs…what’s a girl gotta do? 🙂

I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til tomorrow.

Day 89-Adding Adventure

Well so much for our Friday night rebellion, we decided to keep it simple and went to our favorite sushi place in the valley. But to keep things interesting we did check out a bar that we have been wanting to go to and it was pretty cool. Easy parking, no hassle. Not too crowded inside but not awkwardly empty. Very loungey. It’s called El Bar. Clever?
Decided to lay low the rest of the weekend.
In case you were wondering still looking for the perfect side job…
I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til tomorrow.

Day 88-Adding Adventure

I have to say living in Southern California with our gorgeous weather makes adventure so much more pleasant.   Went to the first DineLa Restaurant today, a Mediterranean restaurant called Mezze.  It was named by Los Angeles magazine as one of the top 10 new restaurants in Los Angeles.  It was actually very good, we did not have one bad thing.  Beet salad with haloumi-the croutons were fried cheese!! But somehow not heavy and greasy but light and delicious.  Hanger steak with freekeh (wheat rice…almost like my mom used to make), and lebne cheesecake.  We also added a sausage flatbread and brussel sprouts from the regular menu.  It was delicious.  I don’t even normally like brussel sprouts but it was done so well I kept eating it.  It had soujok (sausage) and cheese and yum.  The lebne cheesecake was light and airy and not too sweet, a perfect ending to the meal.  What made the dinner better, besides the fabulous company, were that the dishes were creative variations of common dishes.  Creativity in food can go very wrong since often concepts don’t translate well to taste…in this case, however, it was all right!

Tomorrow we will conquer a second restaurant, although we have not chosen the place and are being very rebellious in not having advanced reservations for a friday night….(dun dun dun! or rather dum dum dum!)

I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure… ’til tomorrow.

Day 87-Adding Adventure

Well I don’t know about you guys but I made my Monday manic and fun! I went to a strip club. Yes, you read that right! A friend was having her first night as a dancer and I went to support. It was fun!
There was some talented dancers. I am going to start practicing some of the moves I saw. It is interesting I observed the dancers, the different personalities. There was a sweet girl, there were some rude bitches and some I’m cool but don’t mess with me types. All in all it was a great way to make Monday interesting and adventurous!
I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til ‘tomorrow.

Day 86-Adding Adventure

So the weekend has come to a close. Full of sand, sun, rain, football, and kids! Despite some rain at night, Santa Barbara was sunny and beautiful…

Got back from Santa Barbara last night, exhausted!  But oh those kids are cute.  Spent the Sunday watching 2 great football games.  And decompressing from the week/weekend.

Let’s make Monday really manic and do something crazy!  Something you wouldn’t normally do, especially on a monday!

With respect to culinary adventures, dineLa week has started and is through Thursday.  It is a great way to try different restaurants.  I am hoping to visit a few myself…hopefully we can make it happen.

I hope everyone’s day was full of adventure…’til tomorrow.
